This is a brief overview of a system I’ve built in Max Msp to recreate the phenomenon of how we perceive sound depending on the distance from the source.
After I did some experiments in real life with field recordings and accurate and focused listenings I’ve decided to transpose what happens during the daily life into a digital domain.
The system is mainly based on the Fletcher-Munson curves and on random processes.
This is an attempt to explore the mechanisms of our hearing and the psychoacoustics fundamentals through a more interactive approach.
