We Went On An Island And We Found A Sacred Place

We Went On An Island And We Found A Sacred Place is the outcome of a two weeks residency in the island of Stromboli during the summer of 2021.
It’s a sound installation that explores the everyday life and intimacy of the inhabitants with the volcano. A collage of interviews, found sounds and field recordings using a seismic microphone.
Showcased for the first time in a private house in Stromboli at the end of the residency, then in London for the exhibition “Postcards from Stromboli” 2021 and in Milano for the collective exhibition “Glitch” 2022, both curated by Tagli.
Through these events the sounds remained the same but the set is constantly mutating. A black room with a strobe light and fog machine, a small bathroom in a private house, an intimate tent for kids. Suspended spaces where the listener can live the intensity of a volcano and the stories narrated by the locals.
